Gin may be typically associated with the UK, but there are now many producers around the world who are putting their own spin on things by creating exciting expressions that reflect their local heritage and provenance.
Produced in the small Swedish village of Dala, the core Hernö variant is a classic London Dry. Clean and precise, the gin is made from a base of wheat spirit with organic botanicals including Swedish lingonberries and Polish meadowsweet. The botanicals are macerated in the spirit for 18 hours before distilling, creating an intensely aromatic, full-bodied gin.
Suggested serves: Hernö Dry is a great base for sour cocktails such as the Gin Fizz, made with gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. It also makes a cracking Hanky Panky, which contains gin, sweet red vermouth and Fernet-Branca.
Tasting Notes
Crisp aromas of eucalyptus, aniseed, vanilla and a touch of fresh brioche lead to a smooth palate of sweet licorice, cola bottles and green chilli. Flavours of white pepper and ginger linger on the finish.
